Centrifugation
A machine, called a centrifuge, is used in the process of centrifugation. This purification technique is used to separate two liquids or a liquid and a solid, speeding up sedimentation.
Method:
Samples, of the same amount, are put into the centrifuge symmetrically and are spun around quickly. The denser solid will settle at the bottom with the liquid on top. Decantation can then be used to separate them into different test tubes.
Example:
Centrifugation is used for blood samples frequently.
